Finck Announces Re-Election Campaign For District 19 State House

TRIPP, SD – State Representative Caleb Finck, Republican Candidate for the South Dakota House of Representatives, is officially on the ballot for the June 7th primary. Finck, a rural Tripp resident and current State Representative for District 21. Due to redistricting which happens every 10 years, Caleb was moved into the new District 19 and is running to serve in the new District 19 which is now Bon Homme, Hutchinson, Hanson, McCook, and parts of rural Turner County. Caleb is the only candidate running for Re-Election in the new district and was the first candidate to have their petitions submitted and approved by the South Dakota Secretary of State’s Office.
“I am proud of my time in the State Legislature as I have been able to take the lead in a number of areas,” Finck said. Finck has served on the House Ag and Natural Resources Committee for the past 4 years, Chair of the House Transportation Committee for the past 2 years and a as a member of the Inaugural Military and Veterans Affairs Committee for 2 years.
“Our transportation system is truly at the heart of South Dakota Agriculture and is vitally important to our everyday lives,” Finck said. Representative Finck led the charge in creating the Rural Access Infrastructure Grant Program to repair and replace aging small structures on County and Township roads which will utilize $31 million dollars in new funding over the next three years.
The maintenance of a strong education system in South Dakota will continue to be a priority in Finck’s campaign. “I want our state’s education system to be vibrant and competitive,” Finck said. “The taxpayers of District 19, and the state at large, will know that if they send me back to Pierre, they will have an advocate for an education system that promotes growth and opportunity.”
“When I was a kid I heard the phrase, ‘We are only as strong as our smallest community,” Finck said. “We need to do everything we can to keep our small towns strong and continue to make them stronger.”
Finck is a 6th generation farmer in Bon Homme County and resides and operates his family farm south of Tripp with his wife Toni, his parents, and his grandparents. Caleb is also an active member in the Tripp Community serving on his church consistory, Community Foundation, and is the current President of the Tripp Development Corporation.
“I am absolutely ready to put in the hard work necessary to earn this seat,” Finck stated. “As I continue to meet the people of District 19, I am encouraged by my decision to continue this path of public service, and I look forward to building a relationship with them throughout this campaign.”
District 19 receives two seats in the South Dakota House of Representatives. Absentee voting begins on April 22nd and voting registration for the June primary ends on May 23rd. The general election will occur on November 8th.
